Whether you’re an old or young driver or a new or experienced driver, you should be prepared
for any mishaps on the road. One of the most common reasons for automobile breakdowns is a flat
tire. Today, we will go over why it is a necessity to learn how to fix or change a flat tire. First, you
will need to have a spare tire, that is properly inflated, on hand.
Fortunately, all it takes is about 30 minutes of your time to change a flat tire for a spare one. To
ensure the removal and installation of these tires go smoothly, you will need the following tools:
- A Jack
- A Lugged Wrench
- Owner’s Manual
- Gloves (Optional)
- Reflective Jacket (Optional)
- And a Spare Tire
Step 1: Pull Your Vehicle Over to a Safe Spot
To avoid an accident, please pull over to the side of the road or to a safe location for the job.
Turn off your car engine, gather your items, and be ready!
Step 2: Loosen the Lug Nuts
Turn the lug nuts counterclockwise with the wrench. Do not remove them all the way at this
point.
Step 3: Lift Your Car
Place the jack into the jacking points (refer to manual if necessary). Make sure the flat foot of
the jack touches the ground and remains straight. Lift your vehicle approximately 6 inches or 1⁄2
a foot off the ground. It should be high enough for easy installation. Then remove the lug nuts
and then the tire. The tire may be heavy and dirty, so gloves would come in handy.
Step 4: Install the Spare Tire
Move the flat to the side and grab a hold of your spare tire. Position the lug nut posts with the
holes and push the spare tire in. Put the lug nuts on, but do not completely tighten them all the
way.
Step 5: Lower Your Car
Bring your vehicle back down to the ground by using the jack. Remove the jack and then tighten
the lug nuts. Clean up and make sure you don’t leave any items or equipment behind.
That's all it takes to replace your flat tire on your car! The next and final step is imperative –
